Arsenal Football Club has declared that its much-debated sponsorship partnership with Visit Rwanda will expire in June of next year.
The arrangement, estimated to cost around ten million pounds each year, began in 2018 and has since been heavily criticized.
The backlash stems from Rwanda's alleged support for the M23 militia in persistent fighting in the eastern areas of the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Earlier this year, Arsenal was accused of issuing a severe rebuff to the authorities in Congo by not arranging a meeting with the DRC's foreign minister to discuss the partnership.

Nonetheless, the partnership has now terminated after both parties “mutually agreed” to go their separate ways.
“Collaboratively, Arsenal and the Rwanda Development Board have exceeded the primary aims of the partnership – promoting conservation and responsible tourism, encouraging numerous followers to visit the nation, and creating a lasting foundation for visitor increase,” stated an Gunners' release.
The statement continued that the partnership has also assisted Rwanda's ambition to become an global sports center in Africa and welcome more worldwide tournaments while implementing local football projects that have supported many aspiring footballers and coaches improve their techniques and encourage more involvement in sport across the country.
Richard Garlick, Arsenal's top executive, characterized the deal as a “significant journey” and stated it had been “propelling” the club's ambitions.
But that is not how a segment of the club's followers, with the activist organization Gunners for Peace holding rallies outside the North London venue during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against the French club in April's conclusion.
Activists unveiled a sign stating “Drop Visit Rwanda” and distributed armbands to conceal the partnership emblem on jerseys.
Around that time, Paris Saint-Germain renewed their partnership deal with Visit Rwanda for several more years.
Simultaneously, Atlético Madrid signed a fresh deal for the same period that has led to the logo being carried on the Madrid-based team's men's and women's shirts.
