Loyal followers of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who jumped a barrier and seized the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared footage depicts the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the cast made its way down a yellow carpet flanked by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though court documents showed that he was due to appear on the next day. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile features videos of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last winter.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is obviously a legal violation," stated an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user wrote.
Many supporters criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the end of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote another message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also faulted guards at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while some called for digital services to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
In clips circulating online, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Hundreds of attendees had assembled in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore mall, including several who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it began.
The film, to be released on November 21, is the sequel of a two-part interpretation of the popular theatrical production Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected relationship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, winning two for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
