Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to replace the former manager as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the team's ten-game without a victory start to the Premier League season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic links to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the club ownership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would create a potential obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who made more than 100 of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they start the search of appointing a new head coach.

O'Neil is additionally emerging as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a surprising appointment considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not be required to provide any compensation.
