Toronto Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown With defending champion Dodgers

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their maiden Fall Classic following the 1993 season by defeating the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the ALCS.

Behind three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 win in the series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm just so happy for this squad, the city, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an amazing experience."

George Springer has now hit 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list after Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of anyone else anywhere that I'd choose in that moment other than Springer with his post-season brilliance," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's painful" after his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but commended their work throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of the series," he remarked.

Toronto won the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
